A Blind Rudy Johnson deck c. 1992. Remember that slick with the big 40 of Old E on it? well this is the second board that was made with malt liquor in mind. As you can clearly see in this graphic you should not skate down a street with a forty in your hand, try a trick and fall causing two cars to slam head on.
Perhaps one of the most infamous spots of the 90's, the EMB was a sick skate spot in downtown San Fran. This article is from the first issue of Slap released in April of 1992.
Matt Hensley & Brennand Schoeffel cruising around on a couple of mod rockets in this 1990 H - Street ad. Matts is a Vespa , choice bike of the mod, but Brennands scooter looks like it was stolen from the back of a pizza hut!
But it was! The Brooklyn Banks has to be one of the most famous spots in the world. I had the luck of skating this place for many years when I was in NYC and it will always be one of my top spots ever skated. It is sad to hear that the city is shutting them down due to renovations on the Brooklyn Bridge. They are supposed to open again in 2014 , so keep your fingers crossed in the five boroughs and hope the city gets shit done and reopens them.
101 Clyde Singleton board c. 1995 . Hard to believe it was 15 years ago when this amazing graphic first came out. Just another deck that I wish I would have purchased, wrapped in bubble wrap and stored away. Wheres Doc Brown when ya need him ?
Looks like Jason Lee is in need of some cash in this 1990 Blind ad. I Dont think you will see him holding a sign like that any time in the future though :)
The World Industries Kareem Campbell Mary Jane board c. 1994. I think they should have made this board a scratch n sniff model, just have to be careful where you scratch ;)
No scratch graphics, how does that work? The graphics were placed at the top of the board leaving the rest bare. This was way before nose slides became a popular trick back in 1989.
What do you get when you put black construction paper in the middle of 7 layers of ply? BONITE! Released some time in the mid 80's, it was just another failed gimmick in skateboarding's history like Z Skins and Rip Grip.
The Blind Jordan Richter how to use a condom board c.1992 Many parents got mad at this graphic . They did not realise this board helped many teens on their first " time" in the 90's and brought down teen pregnancy amongst skaters girlfriends by 20%!
This 101 ad from around 1992 is a classic. Natas Kaupas, Kris Markovich, Gabriel Rodriguez & Adam McNatt all look like they are enjoying their roles in this ad, especially Natas.
Blue was the name. A great team( Jason Lee, Dune, Kareem Campbell & Steven Cales) that started in 1992 and lasted for just over 6 months! Jason Lee and Dune went on to create Stereo after the company died.
A 1989 Vision Street Wear ad with SHUT skates rider Mike Kepper pulling a backside grab at one of the most famous skate spots in the world, The Brooklyn Banks.
World Industries Randy Colvin board from 1992. The graphic is a rip off of the Dianetics book cover by L. Ron Hubbard who was the founder of scientology.
